Fwd: ☕ Spilling the tea on Eurail passes...

RE: Click, for the insider scoop on Eurail passes!

Hi, I'll be honest with you, Friend, I'm pretty addicted to good deals.

I mean, have I ever told you about the time I only paid 30 euros a day riding Switzerland's most scenic trains on 1st class? or a $1  (1.30 Euros) a day through Portugal. I smugly paid like 1/5 what everyone else was paying, and it was all thanks to one thing: a Eurail pass.

A really common question I get from you guys is whether or not a Eurail pass (or Interrail pass) is actually a worthwhile way to travel around Europe?

The annoying answer is.... it depends! That's why I created this honest review that highlights the considerations you need to make before buying one. Watch it here, or check out the blog post version here (there's even a free quiz I made up, that I'm weirdly proud of!)

Alright, so what's new this week?

Well, I'm frantically typing this email in the midst of a panic packing session.

I just spent the week eating my way around Paris in search of all the best Christmassy things to do and am now a solid snowball of caloric regret (you can catch up through this IG Highlight). I'm resting my croissant-baby in Munich for now, but the regrets will continue tomorrow when I hop on a train to visit the 'fairytale' land of Alsace, a French region along the German border that is basically a gingerbread village come to life. If you're as excited as I am for this trip, click here to follow along on Instagram!

You can also expect another email from me this week because in case you haven't been assaulted by endless ads already, Black Friday/ Cyber Monday is coming up! While more commonly linked to hoarding TVs and cheap fridges, Black Friday/Cyber Monday is actually an awesome time to score cheap travel deals too so I'm excited to share a roundup with you in a few days. Even Eurail passes are on sale right now, so if you're inspired to buy one from my video, it's the cheapest time of the year to do that :) Click here to scope out deals through my affiliate link.

Anyways, if you've scrolled all the way to the bottom: this week's new video is all about the almighty Eurail pass (watch it here) and how to decide if it makes sense for your Europe trip.

There are similar passes in other continents and also airplane passes, be on the look out for those...

  • STA Travel's MultiFLEX Pass is marketed as an airfare add-on that, if purchased, purportedly allows the consumer to change the dates of their flights without paying certain, or any, fees or charges.
  • The program (now re-branded as AirPass*) initially enabled passholders unlimited first class travel on any of the airline's flights worldwide. Lifetime membership was priced at $250k, with the option to purchase a companion pass for an additional $150k.  Note: Many people are saving money with these lifetime passes and they may have revoked it by now.)

*AAirpass is a membership-based discount program offered by American Airlines to frequent flyers launched in 1981. The program is best known for a previous offering of unlimited travel on American Airlines and unlimited access to Admirals Club locations. Pass holders were offered terms of five years or lifetime. Today the program no longer offers lifetime or unlimited travel focusing instead on pre-paid fares at a discounted, fixed price for frequent travelers. A minimum commitment of $10,000 per traveler, per year is required. Existing unlimited AAirpasses remain valid.

Also, the biggest travel sales of the year are coming up so you can expect a roundup email from me in a few days!

My thanks in advance for your attention, consideration, energy, support, time, and trouble.

Hope you enjoy the video! Talk to you next week,

  João
