Oh the things kids are into these days

There is a not so hidden trend that we’ve been following lately.
It doesn’t take a genius to see that young people are typically the trendsetters in the digital world. They find something new, exciting, and cool to play around on. They like it because “old people” don’t.
But as time goes on and popularity booms, older (more seasoned) people catch on, they start to see what all the hype is about, and then the kids move on to start the next trend.
What was once cool for just kids, now is more popular for post-grads, moms, uncles, business owners, etc.
Here’s what I mean.
College kids were on Facebook first, then high school kids, and eventually you had your Aunt Sheila sharing lasagna recipes and ranting about the “hippie liberal media”.
Twitter started off as a way to share news and chirp out little tidbits of info to your followers. Essentially it was a new way of text messaging. It wasn’t until years down the road that it became the media force and promotional machine that it is today.
Just look at Snapchat. It has become so valuable that they turned down a 3 billion dollar offer from Facebook because they thought their massive user base made it worth much more than that.
The point is, as these sites mature so do their user bases. And that’s when they become valuable for businesses.
This is why we have been paying extra attention to Instagram. While still wildly popular with the kids, more and more you are seeing older, more valuable, people on the platform.
We understand the value of getting in early, and finding a way to generate leads and revenue before it becomes over saturated and expensive.
This had led us to discovering some very innovative and unique ways to use Instagram to grow and promote our business. I've been fortunate enough to have been shown a strategy for generating leads on Instagram that is generating some really remarkable results. It doesn't require that you spend any money. And it takes only a few minutes to implement.
It's the type of stuff that is so new that not many (if any) people even know about it.
So the moral of the story is, just because you believe your target market is not on a specific site, or cannot be reach in a specific way it does not mean it’s always going to stay that way.
With Instagram, things have changed. Our target demographic is between 35-55 years old. And they're almost all there.
Follow trends. Keep an eye on what’s next.
